Stewarding Land, Raising Animals, and Restoring Home
Nestled in the rolling countryside of Peru, New York, Rove Farm is the heart behind everything we do.
What began as the purchase of an 1831 stone farmhouse has grown into a family endeavor centered around restoration, stewardship, good food, and a deep connection to the land. Here, we are slowly reclaiming fields, restoring old buildings, raising livestock, planting gardens, and creating a life rooted in purpose and tradition.
Rove Farm is home to our family—Anton, Chrystal, Agnar, Sebastián, Odinn, Bea, and Viktor—and the many animals that share this place with us.
Every project, whether restoring a centuries-old stone wall, tending sheep in the pasture, collecting eggs, or planting a garden, is guided by a simple belief: that beautiful things are worth preserving, and meaningful work is worth doing well.
Our Farm
Our farm spans ten acres of pasture, and fields in the Adirondack region of Northern New York.
Here you'll find:
- Sheep grazing in the fields
- Goats browsing the hedgerows
- Heritage poultry and geese
- Miniature donkeys
- Livestock guardian dogs protecting the farm
- Gardens, flowers, and seasonal produce
- An 1831 stone farmhouse under careful restoration
The farm is a living classroom for our children and a constant reminder that the best things in life are often built slowly.
The Stone Farmhouse
At the center of the farm stands an 1831 stone farmhouse originally built by Josiah Terry Everest.
For years the home sat waiting for someone willing to bring it back to life. Today, we are carefully restoring it room by room while preserving its historic character and craftsmanship.
The restoration has become one of the defining projects of our family life and serves as much of the inspiration behind Rove + Dwell's focus on natural materials, thoughtful design, and old-world craftsmanship.
Our Animals
Animals play an important role at Rove Farm.
We believe livestock should be raised with care, respect, and room to thrive.
Our farm is home to:
- Sheep
- Goats
- Chickens
- Cotton Patch Geese
- Sebastopol Geese
- Miniature Donkeys
- Livestock Guardian Dogs
Each species contributes to the rhythm and function of the farm while helping us build a more regenerative and sustainable system.
Our Livestock Guardian Dogs
Protecting our livestock are our trusted livestock guardian dogs.
Unlike traditional farm dogs, livestock guardian breeds are bred specifically to live among and protect animals from predators. Their calm confidence, intelligence, and devotion make them invaluable members of the farm.
Our dogs are raised as working guardians first, living alongside livestock and participating in daily farm life.
They are loyal protectors, attentive companions, and an essential part of Rove Farm.
Quinn & Hoss Puppies
From time to time, we offer carefully raised livestock guardian puppies from proven working parents.
Hoss
An internationally registered Karakachan with strong guardian instincts, excellent livestock awareness, and a steady temperament.
Quinn
50% Anatolian Shepherd, 25% Šarplaninac, and 25% Karakachan, combining intelligence, athleticism, loyalty, and natural guardian ability.
Their puppies are raised on our working farm with exposure to livestock, poultry, children, equipment, and everyday farm life.
Our goal is to produce healthy, capable guardians suited for farms, homesteads, and rural properties.
